Owls sign Everton's Barkley on loan

Wednesday have completed the loan signing of highly-rated Everton youngster Ross Barkley on a one-month loan deal.

The Owls have been chasing the services of the talented midfielder for a number of weeks with Everton keen for their starlet to get more first-team experience away from Goodison Park.

With the permanent transfer window now closed, the Toffees have agreed for Barkley to come to Hillsborough initially on a one-month loan stint.

Owls boss Dave Jones told the official SWFC website: "We have been chasing Ross for some time and I`m really pleased to have him on board.

"This is as big as the Rodri signing for me because this lad is a real quality player.

"He`s energetic, good in the air and a box to box player who can score a goal."

The England under-21 player broke into Everton's first team squad last season but boss David Moyes wants the youngster to get more first-team match experience under his belt before becoming a Toffees regular.

Whilst this is a great little signing, in a way, a month seems counter productive to me? Presumably this will more than likely get extended hopefully?!
