Owls defender joins Millwall on loan

Wednesday defender Mark Beevers has joined Championship rivals Millwall on an emergency loan deal.

The 22-year-old has moved to the London club on a 28-day deal and can go straight into the Lions' squad for tomorrow's Championship clash against Bolton Wanderers.

The Barnsley-born defender has featured regularly for the Owls this season, making eight appearances in all competitions including Wednesday's 3-2 win over Millwall earlier in the season at Hillsborough.

But with Martin Taylor arriving at the club from Watford since then, and getting the captain's armband, as well as the return to fitness of Anthony Gardner, Jones has deemed the Owls Academy product surplus to requirements for the time being.

Lions boss Kenny Jackett will look to Beevers to plug the gap left by the injured Paul Robinson and suspended duo Karleigh Osborne and Shane Lowry.

Hmm. Well according to the BBC site posted only moments ago, Mark's struggling with a knee injury and is doubtful for tomorrow's game vs. Hull. Now we're hearing he's fit enough to turn out for Millwall against Bolton. Are there two Mark Beevers then? Still, curious in't it? I'm just grateful DJ hasn't shunted Miguel Llera out the back door instead.

maurice what i find remarkable is were playing a winger at right back and weve just let a defender go out on a an emergency loan deal wtf????? hes made us the crapest defensive outfit in the championship and he lets defender go when were thin in that area as it is. has this man lost the plot, its getting worse daily.

good, thought my negativity was begining to take its toll on some. is it time for dj to go? its not looking god is it? id rather get rid now rather than waiting till jan replacing him then have the relegation battle for a new manager. i cant believe this has happened! come back megson.

In an interview with the star today he sticks by Taylor saying that an individual cannot be blamed for conceding goals. but didn't he directly blame llera. i'd love to know whats rattling around in mm's mind. Beevers makes sense if hes bringing someone else in i suppose but then wouldn't the loan be longer.

Unreal! How can we possibly want a new manger this early in season. It's a bad run...... They happen.

I can handle bad runs it comes with being an owl, what I can't be doing with is this managerial mess, if Beevers has gone to make room for someone gash like butterfield that will be th icing on the cake, however we've sent a defender out on loan when we're playing a winger at right back, we've took a captaincy away from a good hard working player and given it to a Baffoon who has admitted he's making costly errors but still gets picked week in week out. I don't want to see him sacked because I know he can keep us up, but this at the moment isn't good enough. He talks nonsense and believes his own bull*****.

I suppose there is always the possibility this has nothing to do with DJ and is in fact Paul Aldridge's handiwork. I recall GM objecting to Beevers loan out last season (particularly to a close rival) and being told it was necessary in order to balance squad numbers etc. Maybe Coke's return has complicated things or maybe DJ has asked for a loan in but needs to make some kinda sacrifice first. Or maybe not, haha. Well I reckon the best way out of this mess is for DJ to (resign) draft in Danny Batth toot sweet. But that won't happen either because he's already gone on record to say he's **** and all!

What's Julian Bennett done wrong? Isn't he a defender? Methinks some of the squad are not liked by DJ and will never be allowed a look in.

So, unbelievable as it would have seemed only five short weeks ago, we are now officially embroiled in a relegation scrap. We can take heart though, it's early days and a couple of good results can make all the difference. Take Millwall for example, they were below us before kick-off but one good win and... Wait a minute, that young centre half of theirs looks awfully familiar (sounds of gunshot to the foot).
