Owls boss blasts Leeds fans
Wednesday boss Dave Jones blasted Leeds United supporters following Friday night's 1-1 derby draw at Hillsborough.
One 'fan' ran on the pitch to strike Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland after Michael Tonge hit the visitors' 77th minute equaliser, leaving the stopper requiring treatment, probably for shock more than anything else, for five minutes.
It wasn't just that highlighted incident that riled Jones, however. Visiting fans also ripped advertising boards down from the top tier before throwing them down on to their fellow Leeds fans below them, and threw seats on to the pitch in scenes similar to Leeds fans at the other side of the city at Bramall Lane a few years ago.
Chants were also aimed at the Owls boss throughout, and he was left fuming at the unacceptable scenes.
"I`m really sad that we`re not talking about the football but what we saw tonight is unacceptable,' he said post-match.
"They should be banned from every away ground now. They should be punished. It is just upsetting that they are able to do it.
'The authorities have to look at it and sort it. I'm talking about an incident when we should be talking about the football.'
Kirkland spoke to police about the incident after the match and the Football Association has confirmed it will investigate the scenes when they receive the referee's report.
