Kirkland attacker handed jail sentence

The Leeds United 'fan' who assaulted Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Aaron Cawley, 21, appeared before magistrates in Sheffield today following his attack on Kirkland in Friday night's Yorkshire derby between Wednesday and Leeds to be handed the jail term.

He was arrested in Cheltenham and also pleaded guilty to invading the pitch after Michael Tonge scored an equaliser for the visitors.

Cawley rushed back into the crowd to make his escape following the attack on Kirkland but police caught up with him in the Gloucestershire town.

He was already in the middle of a ban from watching football for previous offences.

Magistrate can only give up to 28 days I think so this numpty will be back in circulatuion before Christmas. I would happily have the inconvenience of carrying an ID / Season ticket card so that idiots cant watch football anymore. If you want to buy a ticket you should have a to register and hold and ID card. Im sure the FA wont / cant do anything but I would like to see our own club ban them from Hillsborough.... for life.
