Tudgay To Return

Owls boss Paul Sturrock will receive a massive boost tonight as striker Marcus Tudgay makes a welcome return to action in Wednesday's reserve clash with Walsall at Hillsborough (kick-off 7pm).

The former Derby man has been sidelined for the Owls since injuring a toe tendon in pre-season after a freak accident at a family barbeque where the striker stepped on some broken glass.

And the hitman wasn't expected to make a return to action until at least another month but could now be in contention to join fellow striker Deon Burton for the Owls' long trip to face Southend United at Roots Hall this Saturday.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock told the official SWFC site: 'Marcus will play for as long as he can, hopefully for an hour. If he trains for the whole week with no reaction he could be available for a bit-part on Saturday.'

The Owls have been lacking some much-needed fire-power in their attack for the start of the new campaign with Tudgay, Burton, Maclean, Talbot, Small and Corr all picking up injuries over the pre-season or the start of the new term.

Meanwhile, Wade Small hopes to be fit for the Owls trip to Southend and will not feature for the reserves.

Great news but Im always worried when players come back earlier than expected with our injury luck. He's been missed!

You've certainly missed his goalscoring prowess. Hopefully he's not coming back too soon.
