Big Ron & Waddle Return?

Wednesdayite, boxing promoter and potential investor Dennis Hobson has revealed he would love to give Big Ron and Chris Waddle roles at the club should his takeover bid be successful.

Hobson, who promotes Ricky Hatton and fellow-Owl Clinton Woods, is set to make an approach to the Owls board and claims he and his group of investors have a war chest of millions to buy out Dave Allen.

Hobson told the Mirror: 'There is a group of businessmen, including my brother Andrew, who share a love of Wednesday and who are prepared to invest to make the club great again. It's clear the club are not firing on all cylinders and are going nowhere.'

He continued: 'Me and my brother offered to put in £500,000 each to join the board a couple of years ago when the club appealed for new investors. But we were turned down and so we'll probably have to buy Allen out. But I don't want to be chairman and I might not even be on the board. As a passionate Wednesdayite, I just want to do my bit to revive the club.'

And Hobson revealed his endless list of contacts would 'breathe some life in to the club' - starting with former Owls and Manchester United boss Big Ron and former legend Chris Waddle.

'I'd try and get Big Ron back in some capacity and I'd also like to see Chris Waddle play some sort of role,' he said.

'Chris was an absolute legend at this club. He still lives in Sheffield and it's crazy that the club have someone like him on the doorstep and don't use him. With my contacts, I believe I could get the right people in and breathe some life back into the club.' said Hobson.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that no offer has yet been received by any potential investors. But Hobson and his consortium have announced they need to have a look at the current books to see where they stand - a position which scuppered the hopes of Ken Bates investing in the club previously.

It seems a strange time for this story to come out. How much support has Hobson really got?

I think he's got a fair bit, at the end of the day he's a big wednesday fan and that will win the Owls fans over.

Not sure about the Big Ron and Waddle bit.. think that's just Hobson grandstanding.

If it gets the club some decent money to spend and back in the top league would you be happy with them?
