Owls defender joins Shrewsbury on loan

Wednesday defender Julian Bennett has joined Shrewsbury Town on a 28-day emergency loan deal.

The 27-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements under Owls boss Dave Jones and has yet to make an appearance in the blue and white stripes this season.

He joins the League One Shrews looking for more first team action and is eligible to feature for Town in Saturday's FA Cup clash with Hereford.

Bennett becomes the second Owls defender to be loaned out on an emergency loan deal after Mark Beevers joined Millwall late last month.

Definitely seems to be surplus to requirements but I'd bet there are few League 1 sides willing to meet his wage demands. A bit like Reynolds in that respect, we'll have to make do with renting him out until his contract expires.

agreed just a shame we can't get him off the wage bill now! I am just surprised it is shrewsbury - they must have upped their sights abit to be competing for a player like Bennet

He was cleared to play in the cup yesterday but didn't even make the bench. Maybe he forget to take his boots? Meanwhile, I'll be tuning in to the box this afternoon to cheer Liam Palmer. He's been ever-present for Tranmere so far and they're top of the league, so...

Aw scratch that, darn match has been postponed. Never mind, I'll watch F1 instead on the off-chance Miguel Llera's taking part!
