Jones: We'll take 'dull' Posh victory

Wednesday boss Dave Jones cared little about the dull nature of his side's encounter with Peterborough United as the Owls picked up all three points thanks to a 2-1 win at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Second-half strikes from Ross Barkley and Miguel Llera were enough to give Wednesday a much-needed second win on the spin, despite a late goal from George Boyd for the visitors.

It was far from a classic, but that mattered little for Jones as his men chalked up their first home league win since August and moved out of the Championship relegation zone in the process.

"It`s a win, a bit of a dull game, but it`s a win and I will take that every time,' he told the official SWFC website.

"We have played better than that and lost earlier in the season and it wasn`t one of our best performances but sometimes you need the scrappy wins and I will take it.

"The first half was really lacklustre and we raised the tempo after the game. Like most teams, we are at our best when we play at a high tempo.

"But I don`t want to be negative about the performance because there were a lot of positives out there.'

Wednesday will be out to make it a hat-trick of league wins when they host managerless Blackpool at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

Fair enough really. We'll probably have to scrap to beat the sides near the bottom and play extremely well to beat the sides at the top. Let's hope the transition is a smooth one. At least we can talk about winning again, eh?
