Millwall extend Beevers loan deal

Mark Beevers has extended his loan spell at Wednesday's Championship rivals Millwall until January.

Lions boss Kenny Jackett had initially taken the Barnsley-born centre-back on a 28-day emergency loan, a deal that ran out after Millwall's win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But all parties have now agreed an extension for Beevers to remain at the London club until January 1.

Beevers is currently surplus to requirements under Owls boss Dave Jones. Miguel Llera and Anthony Gardner have been the preferred centre-back pairing at S6, while Martin Taylor was also brought in from Watford.

I think Beevers must have run over the club cat !! He was ot of favour with Megson clearly out of favour now with DJI can't see what he's done wrong when deputised myself but I'm just a meager supporter with no coaching badge as Alan Irvine once remindered us all

This seems like a gamble whichever way we look at it. Helping out a rival is one thing, but it leaves us short at centre back. Gardner is still injury prone, Taylor has shown no kind of form since arriving and DJ gave us all the impression Llera wasn't good enough. Plus, all three are in their thirties, so where's the cover? Even if Beevers was currently fourth choice there are many of us who'd play him left back ahead of Dan Jones. So is it purely for financial reasons then?

Good for Beevers, he's gonna get continues first team game time. Not so sure I see the benefit to Wednesday yet, other than boosting his transfer value! I'd have Beevers ahead of Taylor easily, and fighting it out with Gardener and Llera for a starting spot.
