City Ground to be swamped by Semedo

The term 'there's only one Jose Semedo' won't strictly be true at Nottingham Forest on Saturday when Wednesday visit the City Ground in the Championship.

The Owls will be backed by a sold-out 4,300-plus following in Nottinghamshire and Wednesdayites have dedicated the day to Semedo, the battling Portuguese midfielder.

The tribute will see almost 3,000 Owls fans wearing Semedo masks in the away end, while a number of Portugal national flags have been ordered and will be waved as the travelling Barmy Army shows its support to the player.

The day has been organised by Owls fans online and Nottingham Forest, as a club, have given the idea the green light.

Semedo had to fight back the tears when he was first told about the tribute to him, and Owls fans will be hoping it can inspire him, and his team-mates, to three much-needed points against Forest.

The Portuguese player arrived at Hillsborough in the summer of 2011 with his contract at Charlton Athletic at an end. He helped the club to promotion from League One last term and has adjusted fittingly to life back in the Championship.

Expect to hear quite a few choruses of 'Oh, oh, oh he's magic - you knooooow, you'll never get past Semedo!' from 3pm on Saturday.

It'd be a shame if the fans declared our next home match 'Bothroyd Day' and honoured the occasion by wearing the shirt but not turning up!
