Bothroyd to end Owls loan spell

Striker Jay Bothroyd is set to return to Premier League Queens Park Rangers when his loan spell at Wednesday comes to an end.

The 30-year-old arrived at Hillsborough from Loftus Road in August but his arrival failed to have the desired impact he, and Owls boss Dave Jones, would have liked.

Jones, who worked with Bothroyd during his days at Cardiff City, was weighing-up whether to keep the forward but the Owls boss has told BBC Radio Sheffield that the player will return to London.

From the 14 matches Bothroyd featured in for Wednesday he scored just once and tasted success on only two occasions as the Owls struggled at the wrong end of the Championship.

Bothroyd's last appearance for Wednesday came in the 4-1 home loss against Watford and he has been sidelined through injury since.

What a relief! I still had visions of his loan being extended... or worse!

Thank heavens for that, he's a lazy sod and that's putting it mildly.

Good Riddance to bad rubbish. He'll be at Barnet, Brentford, Leyton Orient, AFC Wimbeldon or another little Home Counties based club within 2 years' time. Mark my words.

I'm sure there's a professional code somewhere that everyone associated with the game are obliged to follow, especially when dealing with the media. But DJ's comments re: Bothroyd stretch credibility don't you think? 'All the ability in the world', okay his next task is to try and remember where in the world he left it. That bit about his head dropping when either he or those around him underperform = Unprofessional. Then we're led to believe QPR have recalled him (rather than being chased out of Sheffield by an angry mob) because a club doesn't loan out players when they're struggling themselves - umm, like Beevers you mean Dave? And best of all, if they hope to survive in the Prem then they're gonna need his goals... Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
