FA slap Helan with one-match ban

On-loan Wednesday player Jeremy Helan has been handed a one-match suspension by the Football Association (FA) following the controversy in the weekend draw at Huddersfield Town

Helan, on-loan from Manchester City, should have received two yellow cards in the 0-0 stalemate on Saturday but the referee booked Michail Antonio by mistake when a second yellow should have been given to Helan.

The FA looked into the incident and Wednesday appealed against the booking handed to Antonio in error, resulting in a disciplinary panel transferring the card to the on-loan winger.

It means the Frenchman will miss Wednesday's FA Cup Third Round clash against MK Dons at Hillsborough this Saturday.

so I wonder what the findings were from the investigation into the referee? the fact that he put antonio's name in the book (without looking who it was) for the apparent dive should be ringing alarm bells. has the word gone out amongst refs that we have a tricky fast guy who dives, so just book him and never give a pen? that is what wants investigating

honestly Hirsty I believe he just saw a big black fella. it was just co-incidence it was Antonio's name that went in the book it could just as easily been Gardener or Reda As for the " we have a fast winger that dives " does he ?? he seems to be quite honest to me and seems to enjoy his goal/assist bonuses

no I'm not suggesting antonio dives at all, I'm suggesting that the ref's think that antonio dives!

Is this just a one-off then or are the FA about to form a full time panel to deal retrospectively with referee errors? Yeah, me too. It's purely a one-off. The whole booking for diving thing is contentious anyway but at least we didn't have to play the last hour with 10men.

I suppose the bonus is that Man City have given permission for us to play Helan in the FA Cup and he will be available for the league. Is this correct or are we just presuming he will miss the next match Is it official that City have given permision to play him in the cup I have not heard anything at all on this one have you?

I thought he'd already played in the Cup for Shrewsbury, so I'd imagine he'll miss a league game (Hull?).
