Charlton reveal concerns over Owls match

Charlton Athletic are hard at work to ensure Saturday's Championship match against Wednesday at The Valley gets the green light.

London, as with the rest of the country, has been hit by heavy snowfall and freezing conditions and The Valley pitch is covered by snow this week.

Charlton yesterday estimated that '110 tonnes' was on their pitch just days before the Owls make the trip south for this weekend's match.

The Addicks have asked for supporters to help them clear the snow and ice not just in the stadium and on the pitch, but also on the roads, pavements and walkaways around the ground.

And head of operations Mick Everett admits the club has concerns over whether the match will be played given the recent weather conditions.

'Given the current situation around the ground, and the weather forecast for the rest of the week, we have some concerns about whether the game will go ahead,' he said.

'We are implementing a number of measures to do our utmost to try to play the game, but the amount of snow that has fallen, coupled with the sustained freezing conditions and the forecast, are a nasty combination.'

Wednesday fans travelling to the game should check the official sites of both clubs for updates throughout this week.

Snow is an issue but freezing temperatures are the real problem. It wouldn't affect their moaning or time wasting but they wouldn't be able to dive around without hurting themselves. Ahhh...
