Pugh joins Owls on loan from Leeds

Wednesday have signed Danny Pugh on loan for the rest of the season from Championship rivals Leeds United.

The 30-year-old becomes Owls boss Dave Jones's second signing in a day following the arrival of Leroy Lita on a similar loan deal from Swansea City.

The former Stoke City utility man has featured just six times for Leeds this season after manager Neil Warnock made the player available for transfer at the start of the campaign.

Pugh, who can play in midfield or at left-back, will be eligible for inclusion in Wednesday's squad to face Charlton Athletic at The Valley tomorrow.

Words fail me. What is DJ doing?
bluedog
Someone will have to explain how a 30yr old who's only managed to rack up six appearances for L**ds all season is a better proposition than Chris Lines. I doubt DJ has been chasing this fella all month, more like scraping the barrel. Or else old Colin is having a laugh at our expense (which wouldn't surprise me at all).

I don't think the loaning in of Pugh is related to the loaning out of Lines other than the perhaps the wages cancel each other out. It seems that Prutton and Coke are in front of Lines so why not get him out for some games and get a guy in to cover the left side? Who gives a toss what Colin thinks, he is hardly the oracle on good football!
Hirsty's Shinpads
You're right Hirsty's Shinpads, my mistake. Seems like Pugh was drafted in because DJ realized he'd lost out on Helan. And that in turn seems to confirm he doesn't rate Mattock at all (and I'd bet his wages are considerably higher). As for Colin, he who personifies style and sportsmanship, who epitomizes tact and diplomacy every time he opens that huge gob of his? Let's give Pugh the benefit of the doubt then and assume he couldn't leave that rat-hole fast enough!

sounds fair enough to me!
