Whelan Doubt For Hull

Much improved Owls midfielder Glenn Whelan is a big doubt for Wednesday's live Sky clash with Hull City on Friday night after limping off in the Owls draw with Stoke in midweek.

The transfer-listed midfielder came off with a suspected hip injury sustained midway through the first-half after attempting to carry on through the pain barrier.

Owls boss Paul Sturrock admitted the Republic of Ireland under-21 is a worry for the clash with the Tigers - but the Owls could welcome back Steve Adams after the midfielder came though the Southend United match unscathed at the weekend.

Whelan has been in fine form for the Owls this season after being placed on the transfer-list by Sturrock following a disappointing last campaign which saw him dropped from the Owls side.

But fans have warmed to the Irishman's performances this term and gave him a standing ovation when he left the pitch midway through the second-half last night.

Will be a big miss, he's been excellent so far this season. Hopefully Adams will be fully fit though, and maybe even we'll get to see Kenny Lunt!
