Dons-bound Reynolds leaves Owls

Mark Reynolds has left Wednesday after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent, and is expected to complete a permanent switch to SPL side Aberdeen.

The defender had made just 14 appearances for the Owls since moving south of the border from Motherwell two years ago.

The 25-year-old Scot had been shipped out to Aberdeen on loan last year and the Dons are understood to be keen on signing Reynolds on a permanent deal following his departure from South Yorkshire.

A monumental waste of cash. The original deal was 'undisclosed', no surprises there then, but was believed to involve a fee around the £100k mark and a wage substantially higher than he was earning in Scotland which then miraculously doubled following our promotion. His agent must have had a field day negotiating that one and I'd imagine having his contract cancelled 'by mutual consent' involved a hefty 'loyalty' bonus to compensate for the fact Aberdeen aren't ever likely to be as stupid as we were. You watch, he'll be playing regularly for Scotland next!

To be fair mo over the years not many Scottish players have made it in England, you've only got to look at how many times Scotland have made into finals over the last 2 decades, poor nation for football.

It's funny though, ecco owl. Scotland were known to produce some outstandingly talented individuals not too long ago but then, if they were lucky enough to field ten of 'em in the same team they'd always come unstuck thanks to their crappy goalkeeper!
