Owls expecting bumper Barnsley crowd

Wednesday are expecting a bumper crowd for next Saturday's crucial derby clash against Barnsley at Hillsborough.

Tickets have been selling fast for a contest that could have a big impact on the battle to stay in the Championship, as well as see local bragging rights at stake.

Both clubs are battling against relegation from the second tier of English football and the result could be crucial in both Wednesday and Barnsley's season.

The Owls are expecting their biggest crowd of the season so far at S6 with ticket sales with just over a week to go before the match recorded at a rapid rate in both home end away ends.

Barnsley have sold just under 2,500 of their allocation in the West Stand and sales, as is usually the case, are expected to increase next week in the build-up to the match.

Wednesday are encouraging home fans to buy their tickets soon rather than later instead of risk missing out.

While Flitcroft admits a passing interest in a certain soon-to-be 36yr old lummox from across the Pennines, we hear his real targets are a centre half and left back. Llera & Reda perhaps? Don't be mean Dave, go help 'em out some more. I'm sure their need is greater!

OM, I think loaning COG to a relegation rival must have been the worst move by Dave Jones since his arrival. Here's COG's stats since he joined Barnsley: 5 games + 3 as sub, 2 goals + 4 assists. COG has helped a relegation rival team get the goals that we are struggling to get. All this leads to only one question: What the faq, DJ?

Are any of us surprised to see CO'G busting a gut every week? Or that Barnsley's form/ results with him are superior to ours without him? It harks back to Beevers' loan last Autumn, Millwall passed us in the table and we didn't see them for dust. It comes down to man management as opposed to rocket science. Keep telling someone they're rubbish and then show them the door and they're bound to do all they can to prove you wrong. There's a trick to getting the best out of the players at your disposal and most top managers have mastered it. It's called motivation and when applied correctly it breeds confidence, belief etc etc. Always preferable to regular bouts of public criticism, but that's just my opinion. DJ (apparently) thinks otherwise.

good job you aren't manager then eh maurice? regular bouts of public criticism?! keep telling someone there rubbish?! the amount of bitching and moaning on here is unreal. we have just lost to two of the best teams in the division after a pretty good run. the unfortunate thing is that all of the teams around us have continued to win. millwall are in freefall though and anyone in the bottom half of the table needs to be very careful. every manager will have players he rates and players he doesn't, get over it. no one was saying anything until we lost then all the usual moaning started again. is it any wonder the level of participation has dropped off on here with such an overpowering negative vibe
Hirsty's Shinpads
Hirsty's Shinpads, I won't deny this season has so far been hugely discouraging for me. Another lengthy fight against relegation (I hadn't anticipated that tbh), ten home defeats to date, patchy form, curious team selection, questionable tactics, dubious recruitment policy, over reliance on the loan market, dumped out of the cup to lowly opposition, all these things do tend to add up and with nine games remaining perhaps my anxiety is starting to show! Still, that's twice I've been accused of moaning in little over a week so it's gotta be true! I'll happily take the hint. Maybe what this forum needs is a positive spin on a regular basis. Someone who's willing to post more than, say, once or twice a month and offer reassurance that despite what anyone else might think everything is just fine and dandy. I hereby nominate you...

Our Maurice ... so with a little bit of hindsight would you rather have Beevers in our team at the moment instead of Gardner or Llera. Millwall have won one and drawn one out of their last 12 games.
db2002
db2002, so is Millwall's recent slump entirely down to Beevers then? I'd have thought it had more to do with them missing Chris Wood's goals. With a little bit of hindsight though, who would you sooner we had in our squad right now - Beevers or Martin Taylor?
OurMaurice
I had been posting regularly but got fed up with continually being at odds with other contributers so gave it rest. I understand that you do not want Jones and would prefer Megson back, that has been obvious from the word go but it isn't going to happen so we have to get on with what we have got. i prefer to look for the positives rather than get bogged down in negativity it is true!
Hirsty's Shinpads
Stop picking on him he's entitled to an opinion. If he's not happy then its gonna be a negative one.
