Brad Jones - Owls Numero Uno?

The latest poll on Vital Sheffield Wednesday is asking whether you think current Middlesbrough loanee stopper Brad Jones is good enough for the Owls, so have YOUR say!

The Aussie keeper has come under pressure from a section of Wednesday fans after some recent below-par performances in the Owls number one shirt. Jones has given two penalties away already this season - at Plymouth, and more crucially in the home clash with Leeds United when David Healy netted the decisive penalty after Jones brought him down.

And with the Aussie keepers 3-month stay at Hillsborough nearing its end, Owls boss Paul Sturrock must decide whether to try and extend his loan deal further, bring in a new stopper, or even consider using Chris Adamson until the January transfer window re-opens.

In Jones' favour, the Owls currently have one of the better defences in the Championship thanks to a number of decent performances in his opening matches as an Owl. Indeed, his final minute supersave at Plymouth helped secure the Owls' only win of the season to date - had he not made that things could be much, much worse.

The Owls were, of course, all set to sign Scott Carson in pre-season after a successful loan spell with the club towards the end of the season and Jones was a last-minute replacement just before the big kick-off to the new season. He may not be up to the standard set by Carson last season, but is he the best we can expect?

Jones has made 15 appearances for Middlesbrough after signing professional terms with the Riverside club from trainee. He's also had loan spells at Stockport County, Rotherham United and Blackpool.

He's not good enough but is better than nothing until we get someone in January, or IF we get someone in January.
