Something To Smile About

At last! Something to smile about at S6 with the news that Wednesday's academy went top of the FA Premier Academy League thanks to a run of four consecutive wins.

Things may not be so rosey in the first-team, but Owls boss Paul Sturrock will be hoping the Owls Academy can show their first-team idols a thing or two this season - and maybe even break in to Paul Sturrock's plans.

Saturday's close-fought victory over Yorkshire rivals Leeds United put the Under-18 side top of their Pool D League Table by two points following victories over West Brom, Crewe and Manchester City. Their only defeat thus far coming in the form of a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.

And the season just keeps getting bigger and better for the Owls youngsters as they face a tough trip to third-placed Sheffield United on Saturday in a bond to cement their place at the top of the tree.

A number of Wednesday academy products have already featured for the Owls first-team this season either on the pitch or on the substitutes bench. David McClements goalscoring abilities have seen him called up to the squad while Richard O'Donnell and Luke Boden have also featured.
