Dons sign Weaver on six-month deal

Dons sign Weaver on six-month deal

Former Owls goalkeeper Nicky Weaver has moved north of the border to sign for SPL side Aberdeen on a six-month contract.

The 34-year-old was released by Wednesday at the end of last season after falling down the pecking order behind Chris Kirkland and Stephen Bywater.

Weaver failed to feature for the Owls last season and his last appearance came in January 2012.

'I'm delighted to get Nicky on board,' said Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes.

'To get such an experienced and talented goalkeeper is important and to get him during the pre-season stage is great for him in terms of being able to integrate with the boys.'

Weaver has travelled over to Dublin to join-up with his new club on their pre-season tour.

I remember being told he was off to Donny. A year later and he signs for the Dons. Nearly got it right I suppose. All the best Nicky.
