Sturrock Set For Clear-Out

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has vented his frustration at a section of his playing squad after the dismal 4-0 defeat at Colchester United by insisting he'll make wholesale changes to the squad sooner rather than later.

Sturrock made four changes to the team at Layer Road - some forced and some not - but the Owls boss has made it clear he wants to bring in new 'Championship quality' players to bolster his squad...before it's too late.

He told the official SWFC site: 'I feel let down and it's time for a change as far as the players are concerned.

'Several of them have come to the end of their tether at this football club. It's time for players who have had their sell-by date to be moved on very quickly and it's got to the stage where we've got to get some serious Championship players in.'

'The players should be apologetic too. I would like them to look in the mirror and be honest with themselves.'

The problem could be raising the funds to bring these players in after financial difficulties have already forced the Owls boss to loan David Graham out to Bradford City while Lloyd Sam was also unable to have his loan deal extended at Hillsborough due to financial restraints at the club.

It's likely Sturrock will have to ship players out of the club in time for the January transfer window - and with the Owls' current position in the Championship not exactly putting players in the shop window, it's unlikely the Owls will attract big fees for their playing squad.

And it remains to be see whether Owls chairman Dave Allen will further dip into his own pocket to fund any potential signings as rumours mount of a protest at Hillsborough in the Owls upcoming clash with QPR on Saturday.

So we have no money for players, and with the exception of a couple of players, Sturrock is admitting his signings are crap, so do you trust him to manage to replace them, considdering we got rid of 6 and only brought in 3 in the summer ?
