Sturrock Sacked

Owls chairman Dave Allen has revealed boss Paul Sturrock has parted company with the club after Wednesday fell to new lows in last night's 4-0 drubbing by Colchester United which left Wednesday fourth from bottom in the Championship.

Chairman Dave Allen told the official site: 'Our league position says it all. However, the chairman and directors would like to place on record our thanks to Paul for his efforts.

'No one will forget that wonderful day we had at Cardiff when we won the play-offs and subsequently got promoted to the Championship.

'Unfortunately, in spite of strengthening the squad this year, we have not made the desired progress and, to that end, we need a change in coaching staff.'

Wednesday will announce who is to take charge of the Owls' clash with QPR on Friday while the search for a new manager has already started.

Absolute disgrace, why give him a new three year deal only to sack him a few games later? Absolutely pathetic I thought the official site was having a laugh when I looked.

Had to happen. What choice did we have, he has his players back, and we look worse than ever. We don't have time to wait for him to turn it round, or we would go down. Nigel Pearson had a great record in his few games in charge at West Brom. Look at Croatia now, their management team is Billic, Boban, Prozensky & assanovic, we should get a management team like that of our great players, it would inspire our team to victory

What the f**k!!! What a joke!! Allen out immediately! Why give him a new deal then sack him!!! Not only will that cost us even more money it just f**ks the Owls up again! Rubbish decision! I think Mr Nigel Pearson is going the job or Worthington just liek we gave the job to Wilson who did s**t! Who dreams up ex players will do well!!??? BIG RON BACK!!! ALLEN OUT

Sturrock had to pay the penalty. They are his players, the team is supposedly back to full strength and we still get thrashed by a side who should be battling relegation themselves. I like Mr Sturrock but his perfomance just wasn't good enough. The side actually looks worse than last year not better.

How about Big Ron coming back for 12 months to mentor someone like Nigel Pearson. Worthington is not the sort of manager we need this time, he is another tinkerer. that was the idea when he came back second time, if you read his autobiography, he was sacked by Dave Richards on a Sunday night, and Nigel Pearson was due to join him on the Monday Morning.

I would go for Denis Wise personally. We need someone who is prepared to kick some ass in the dressing room. The players should be sued for earning money under false pretences.

Big Ron & Big Nige would be great team. If you read Paolo Di Canio's autobiography, it says that when Big Ron walked into the dressing room, everyone stopped and listened, when Danny Wilson came, nobody gave a toss what he had to say. If the dressing room has been lost by Sturrock, then maybe we need a big Ron to win it back. Another suggestion is to Have Big Ron with Lee Bullen. Bully knows the players, and is a leader, he would be a good chice, look at Liverpool in the 70's and 80's, they promoted from within,a nd it did them no hard did it ?

Financially this is another embarassment for the club and more specifically Mr Allen. KPS paid the penalty for being honest and not bulls**tting us like the rest of the crap we've had managing us recently. Atleast we've made a progressive decision and made a decision in a timely manner that will give the new manager a chance to make a difference

I wish Sturrock all the best, May 2005 will always be remembered, but unfortunately since then, the inabillity to score goals has been his downfall. You cannot go into every game in a negative manner. He brought in Leon Best suggesting he was a prospect, he socored 1 deflected gaol in his time here, Barry Corr is still to score, Tudgay, Maclean & Burton have all looked crap this season, and so what can we do. We all know what Tudgay, Burton & MacLean are capable of, so maybe we need a more attack minded manager

Sturrock is a good manager, they should have stuck with him, he would have turned it around. Wednesday will be ok this year-there are plenty of teams in this division that are not close to Wednesday's quality. Good luck guys!

The table doesn't lie Scotty. You say he is a good manager, he wqas good here and at Plymouth in the bottom divisions. What is his record here and at Southampton when he has been in a higher league with a bigger team ? It is very very poor. For all of you who say it is a step backwards, that is crap. It will depend on who replaces him as to whether is was a crap move. teams like Colchester have come up, and have 5000 crowds,a nd they are top half. We has nearly 29,000 there last week, and was crap, and we take a good following to Colchester and we was crap, why can Colchester & Preston & Burnley & Luton do it with their small crowds and small squad ?

Sturrock let the fans down big time. We all cried out for this new contact a couple of months ago when Allen was not going to give it, and in return we have had a month of boring negative s**te from Sturrock, and he has killed the confidence of every single striker in the club. It is not just last night. For those of you who never bothered to go to the game, can I remind you Owls 1 Wrexham 4 Say no more I took a day off work, and did a 100 mile round trip to see that game, it is people like me that Sturrock have let down

I'm sick of the managerial merry-go-round at Hillsborough. In Sturrock I thought we had found a manager with experience, intelligence, honesty and a genuine feeling for the club, a man that could give us some continuity and stability. I had hoped the board would stand by him.

if sturrock let the fans down haxeyowl as only you say then why did we get promotion under him 2 seasons ago ,then his and alot of the team first time in the championship still managed to keep us up,as for doing 100 mile round trips thats what true fans do ,so we took a beating that night so did some other big teams ,who are nearly topping the league, sturrock just needed time with his full squad to turn things round and you know that s true, just look down the road to see what can be achived

a bad and sad day for all owls fans, managers r in their jobs on results only and sorry to say this but this seasons performances were getting worse by the week,a lucky win against barnsley the only highlight.already we r depending on a brunt special to win games or a maclean penalty in open play we just dont hurt the opposition anymore.i am confused by the 3 year extension given to paul then suddenly he is sacked but only our chairman can explain that one. nigel pearson for me or a gamble on mad dog martin allen would be fun to see someone like him in charge.

What we need to make Sheffield Wednesday great again are players who are prepared to die for the cause. No proper Wednesday fan would ever crticise a player who puts in 150% effort every game but most of this lot don't give a sh*t and Sturrock has to take the blame for that cos he brought them in. The only one I'd keep is Bougherra. Dennis Wise is the man I'd bring in.

I think people like Haxeyowl need a reality check, he hasn't been let down by the manager but the "stars" that go on to the pitch every saturday and then don't put the ball in the back of the net. The defense and midfield are looking good, but the keeper we have at the moment doesn't look like he's played in goal before and the strikers just don't have a clue (like Maclean missing a virtual open net from 5 yards at Colchester), Yes Sturrock signed and kept faith in most of them but you can't buy a Henry or a Shearer with 100k so you buy at what level you can with the money thats provided Silk purse and pigs ear comes to mind. I go home and away and was there at Colchester, its the players (Like Paul said) and Dave Allen that should carry the can not the manager with the league position at the moment and please Dave if you care at all for this club let Hobson put his money where his mouth is.
