Fans Make Sturrock Tribute

Fans Make Sturrock Tribute

Vital Sheffield Wednesday users have paid tribute and thanks to Paul Sturrock after the former Owls boss was shown the Hillsborough door yesterday.

Owls chairman Dave Allen and the rest of the Wednesday board called time on Sturrock's reign as Hillsborough boss yesterday afternoon after the Owls fell to new lows with a 4-0 defeat at Colchester United the previous night.

But Wednesday fans have flocked to the defence of the former Plymouth Argyle and Southampton boss - with the majority feel it was the WRONG decision to show Sturrock the door, especially after the Owls chairman publically backed Sturrock by offering him a new three-year deal with the club just a mater of weeks ago.

swfcowls: What can i say even Mourinho would not have got us promoted that season, what a manager. You will be remebered as a true great around hillsbourugh for years to come. The times you had here were great, it has been a pleasure to have you as a manger, all the best...

nickswfc: He's the best manager we've had since I've been going on a regular basis, but then again it hasn't been hard. I just wonder what on earth is going through his mind at the moment having just been given a brand new contract by the club.

north_stand_owl: Good lad, very unlucky to go. Have a good career...

newman87: The table doesn't lie but I'm shocked that hes gone. I thought he'd turn it round - he has done in the past and I'm sure he would have done again. Its left me feeling very unsure about the future of our football club. If Allen thinks this will appease the fans then hes obviously got things very wrong indeed. Good luck for the future PS.

welshyowl: Top bloke and top manager. Big big shame to see him go and a big big loss for this football club. For the first time in years we had a manager of whom I was confident could take the club forward. Unfortunately his hands wee tied behind his back. Sad day to be an SWFC fan.

pob: Wowsers I never expected this, kinda took my breathe away when I saw it. What a mess our beloved club is. Back to square one now.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday wishes to place on record its thanks to the efforts of Paul Sturrock over the past two years at Hillsborough and wishes him all the success for the future.

Ludicrous decison. I'm an Argyle fan and he was fantastic for us, a real legend. Allen deserves relegation though I feel sorry for the Wednesday fans

Paul, you're a great manager, sorry you've been treated so shabbily.

I wonder if the fact that Nigel Worthington is now looking for a job didn't have any influence on that decision? Read all about Worthington's Norwich legacy on the Vital Norwich site.

Paul if it was up to any wednesday fan you would have stayed and Dave Allan would go he's past his sell by date and cares not for the fans or anyone but his self :( remember ya always! wish you all the best in all that you do Stacey x

Hibernian is calling you old boy, hope you will be treated better if you get the job. The best of everything to you and thanks for all the good memorys, you will be missed.

The man deserved so much more than to be treated like this. I despise Dave Allen for what he has done and is doing to our beloved club. What happened to the 5 year plan? Did Charlton get to the Premiership after 2 years of Curbs being in charge? Nope! These things take time and a board needs to be behind a manager. Paul Sturrock is the best manager we have had in recent history and I feel that in time he would have turned things round and even if he didn't I would still remain loyal to him. Three points on saturday could move the Owls further up the league, why not show a little more faith in him. It was reported in the Sun that we have had to pay Paul £150k to terminate his contract, why not use that to sign a decent keeper or towards wages of a loan signing? What can a new manager do to help us without any money being available. DAVE ALLEN IS KILLING THE CLUB.

We were lucky to have Sturrock in the first place. I have immense respect for him as a man and as a manager.
21/10/2006 11:13:00
He should have had more time
21/10/2006 17:42:00
He was one of the best Managers we had (plymouth) I think you board have been a bit too hasty.
