Wednesday close on Gray appointment
Wednesday are close to announcing Stuart Gray as the permanent successor to Dave Jones as manager.
Gray has been in charge of the Owls since the start of December and has impressed chairman Milan Mandaric with a positive run of results that has lifted Wednesday out of the Championship relegation zone.
He started with a 2-1 victory over high-flying Leicester City and has not looked back, with the recent 6-0 thrashing of Yorkshire rivals the icing on the cake. An encouraging 1-1 draw at Burnley last weekend seems to have only cemented the decision to make the 53-year-old permanent boss at S6.
Gray told BBC Radio Sheffield that he is 'very close' to being confirmed as permanent boss, and that the news could be announced before Saturday's trip to Rochdale in the FA Cup.
Gray started his managerial career at Southampton and has also managed Northampton Town, as well as hold caretaker roles with Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Burnley.
