Hull City reject Owls' bid for Fryatt

Hull City have turned down an approach from Wednesday for striker Matty Fryatt, according to reports.

The former Leicester City man enjoyed a successful loan stint at Hillsborough earlier this season and the Owls have looked to bring the forward in again this month.

The Tigers are prepared to let Fryatt go following the additions of Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic this month but have so far repelled approaches from S6.

The deadline for permanent deals is Friday and Hull boss Steve Bruce is only expected to let the striker leave if the price is right.

Wednesday were dealt a blow with Sunderland recalling Connor Wickham from his loan stint with the Owls so Gray could go back with a new-and-improved approach for Fryatt or turn his attentions elsewhere.

I suspect Steve Bruce is inviting an auction too by going public with this talk of 'the right price' or else be willing to let the player run down his contract and leave next summer for free. I'd originally assumed we'd stepped in with a cheeky opening bid but no, it seems like we were simply trying for yet another loan. Hardly surprising it was turned down then. We don't do M&S loans, we do PoundStretcher loans: That's where we insist the parent club continues to pay the player's wages while we parade him in the shop window. There - so come on MM, prove me wrong!

I see Fryatt came on as sub vs. Palace last night. It's happen as well he didn't score or else his value would probably have risen by another hundred grand. Still, we shouldn't be too hard on Steve Bruce. He hasn't been the same since that truck parked on his face!
