Mandaric hoping for Wickham return
Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has not given up hope of another Hillsborough return for striker Connor Wickham.
The 20-year-old, who scored eight goals in eleven appearances for the Owls, was recalled by parent club Sunderland this week with rumours suggesting he could be set for a permanent move away from the Premier League club.
But Mandaric will continue to monitor the progress of the former Ipswich Town man over the coming days and weeks and hopes the striker can come back to Hillsborough for a third time this season.
"There is a good chance that we will get Connor back,' Mandaric told the Sheffield Star.
'Connor wanted to stay with us. He loved it here and liked being part of the club.
"It is important we get him back. We all know what he has done for us. I am very optimistic something can be done."
Brighton and Hove Albion have been linked with a permanent move for Wickham, while Sunderland boss Gus Poyet could also throw him into first-team affairs with the Premier League club fighting for top-flight survival.
