Tigers to offer Owls target new deal

Wednesday target Matty Fryatt is set to be a new deal to stay with Hull City beyond the end of this season.

The striker enjoyed an impressive loan stint at Hillsborough this season and Owls boss Stuart Gray has made no secret of his desire to bring the former Leicester City man back to S6.

But Tigers boss Steve Bruce says he is keen for more competition for places in attack and will offer the forward a new deal to remain at the KC Stadium.

Fryatt has yet to start a league game for the Premier League club and could weigh up his options come the end of the campaign, despite Bruce's desire to hang on to him.

The Owls would offer him the chance of more first-team action but other clubs are set to offer stiff competition for his services should he decide his future lies elsewhere.

No surprise whatsoever. Given his age and record Fryatt's an asset who'd probably command a seven-figure transfer fee, so why would Hull risk losing him for nowt? Dare say he'll struggle to make their starting XI while ever they remain in the PL but the wages he'll get offered as a squad player will probably exceed anything we might be willing to cough up anyway. And if he gets fed up of warming the bench then they'll simply send him out on loan for a bit. Besides, Hull might be in Europe yet, that and two domestic cup competitions. He might prefer to stay there for another year and see what happens.
