Wednesday offer duo new contracts

Wednesday are to offer new deals to goalkeeper Chris Kirkland and midfielder Jose Semedo this summer.

The Owls revealed the list of players they would be releasing and looking to retain yesterday and that includes attempts to keep the former Liverpool shot-stopper and Portuguese midfielder at Hillsborough.

Kirkland has been one of the club's players of the season while Semedo has worked his way back into first-team plans under Stuart Gray after falling out of favour under former boss Dave Jones earlier in the season.

Talks have opened with representatives of both players and the club will hope to conclude the deals before the start of pre-season training.

Wednesday will also enter into talks with defensive duo Glenn Loovens and Oguchi Onyewu over extended stays at S6 after the pair penned short-term deals last season.

Reda Johnson, Miguel Llera, Jermaine Johnson, David Prutton, Anthony Gardner, Martin Taylor, Adam Davies and Arron Jameson will all leave the club this summer.
