Robson Set For Owls Talks

Former West Brom and Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson is set to sit down for talks with Wednesday chairman Dave Allen about the vacant manager's position at Hillsborough.

Allen hopes to have a new boss in place for the Owls' vital clash against Leicester City at the weekend - with Brian Laws and Gary Megson also in the running for the job.

Robson has been out of a job since being sacked by West Brom in September - and is likely to be on the final shortlist of three candidates that the Owls chairman revealed would be discussed in the middle of this week.

The Manchester United and England legend has already achieved promotion from the second tier of English football with Middlesbrough but was widely criticised for overspending during his time at the Riverside - an option that won't be available at S6.

He also helped West Brom survive in the Premiership in his first season at the Hawthorns despite being rock-bottom by Christmas - but was unable to stop the Baggies suffering relegation last season.

During his time at West Brom Robson won just 19 of his 81 games in charge, losing 38 and drawing 24. He also spent a short time in charge at Bradford City alongside Colin Todd where he won just seven of his 28 games at the helm at Valley Parade.

The Wednesday board are likely to reveal the new Owls boss following Tuesday night's clash with Crystal Palace at Hillsborough - with the new man likely to take charge for the match with Leicester City on Saturday.
