McAuley To Continue As Boss

Owls' caretaker boss Sean McAuley has revealed he is likely to continue at the helm for Saturday's Championship clash against Leicester City.

It was thought Wednesday would appoint their successor to Paul Sturrock this week to take charge of the match against the Foxes - with Bryan Robson, Brian Laws and Gary Megson the front runners for the job.

But McAuley revealed he is likely to be in charge for the match following the dramatic 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: 'I think I will be in place for Saturday's game and we'll take it from there. I think the decision will be made at the weekend or after that.'

The Owls academy coach has had an immediate impact since being appointed caretaker boss alongside goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer two weeks ago - with the Owls picking up seven points from three matches and scoring eight goals along the way.
