Sturrock Set For Swindon Talks

Former Owls boss Paul Sturrock looks set to make an immediate return to management as manager of League One club Swindon Town following his sacking from the Owls two weeks ago.

Sturrock is set to open talks with the Robins following the departure of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet to Leeds United - after the Scot missed out on jobs north of the border at Hibernian and former club Dundee United.

And the former Owls supremo revealed on BBC Radio Sheffield this week that he wouldn't be out of management for long and that he was likely to take the first job that comes his way.

He said: 'I won't be out of management long. I'm looking to get back in to it as soon as possible and will be in charge of the first club that shows an interest in taking me on board.'

Sturrock has already achieved promotion from League Two with former club Plymouth Argyle before putting them on track to a seconds consecutive promotion to the Championship before leaving for Southampton. He also led the Owls to promotion from League One at the first time of asking.

A number of other names have been linked with a move to the County Ground including Graham Rix, Iffy Onoura, Steve White and Luc Nijhiolt and should Sturrock accept the position he will be re-unite with former Owls striker Lee Peacock.

Good for him....he doesn't deserve to be out of management for too long. Good luck Paul
