Owls snap up Keiren Westwood

Owls snap up Keiren Westwood

Wednesday have signed goalkeeper Keiren Westwood on a free transfer.

The former Coventry City goalkeeper has penned a two-year deal at Hillsborough after seeing his contract come to an end with Premier League Sunderland.

The 29-year-old arrives at S6 with plenty of experience throughout the league ladder and his signature could see Chris Kirkland depart.

I smell a ratification.

sounds like there is little hope of Kirkland re-signing then?! The 90min drive over must have been too much. Well considering he aint going to Liverpool or Everton - maybe he'll end up at Tranmere or Oldham?

Hey up, Casowl. And, no doubt, just as you punch 'Submit' we hear that Kirkland signs a 1yr deal. So... as understudy to Westwood then? With perhaps one eye on coaching our younger keepers?
08/07/2014 13:25:00
*sheepishly types* haha, typical! Interesting move now, I don't think Westwood will have dropped from the EPL without the prospect of 1st choice. Martinez played a fair bit towards the end of last season. Maybe there is an acceptance that Kirkland isn't up to the rigors of a full season anymore? At 33, despite his injuries, you would have thought he'd have 3-4 years left in him at this level? From what I've seen of Westwood he's a decent keeper, and with Kirkland, maybe this is the statement of where this squad is heading that we all wanted - strength and backup in all key positions.

And now Sam Hutchinson has penned a 2yr deal - all going off at S6 today! Good news I say.
08/07/2014 13:52:00
...and now news that 'Hutch' has signed a 2yr deal. I'm gonna need to go lie down at this rate!

HAHA. OM Me and you in a Front Page Comments duel!

Now for some new signings hopefully Westwood is the only one I can't accept that Loovens Hutchinson Goughie Kirkland and Samedo qualify as new signings its great to see some movement though and thers even speculation were battling with leeds, Millwall and a couple more clubs for a cameraoon geeza am I glad I just knew Rumplestiltskin woke me up this morning for a reason EY up though calm down calm down were wednesdayites arent we !!!!!!
08/07/2014 15:12:00
So, andymac-............. um... This Rumplestiltskin then... Is that the missus or what?
08/07/2014 19:49:00
OM thats Wrinklestiltskin obviously not got access to vital !! I hear Roger Johnson could be the next not too sure about that one he did a good job for us at the time but he had a nightmare at West Ham and i breathed a sigh of relief at that time. The others though now in my opinion have had long enough to re sign we should move on we should not be their last resort Loovens Gouchy and Samedo you have had long enough bye bye We are Wednesday. I don't know about anyone else on this one but apperently the Finacial Fair Play rules are to be adhered too and it is all linked to the clubs revenue. Taking that into consideration Rotherham (you know that small town in Sheffield) have signed around 12 new players and hardly no one left I think or if they have they will have gone to Matlock or Alfreton with this in mind I reckon their players must be on the Minimum Wage
