Owls share spoils in Rovers friendly

Wednesday shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at neighbours Doncaster Rovers in a pre-season friendly at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Stuart Gray's side led 2-0 with goals either side of half-time but the hosts battled back to peg their visitors back and earn a draw.

Atdhe Nuhiu headed Wednesday, backed by a large away following, in front just before the interval after a superb run and cross from Jacques Maghoma.

It got better for Wednesday in the second half when Michail Antonio doubled their advantage shortly after the restart.

The Owls looked to be in cruise control but Rovers ensured they stayed in the contest with an immediate response. Marc De Val hit back for the hosts just minutes later to reduce the deficit.

Buoyed by the goal, Rovers drew level through Kyle Bennett, who curled a pin-point free-kick into the back of the net to level things up.

Rovers: Williams, Brown, Wakefield, McCullough, Evina, Forrester, Bennett, Tyson, Keegan (De Val 46), Furman, Robinson.

Wednesday: Kirkland, Palmer, Helan (Mattock 72), Zayatte (Loovens 61), Coke (Hutchinson 61), Kelhar, Lee (McCabe 72), Antonio, Lavery (Madine 48), Maghoma, Nuhiu (Maguire 61) .
