Owls confirm Tom Lees signing

Wednesday have confirmed the signing of defender Tom Lees from Leeds United.

The 23-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the Owls and signed for an undisclosed fee from the Owls' Yorkshire rivals.

He was at Wednesday's friendly clash against Newcastle United on Wednesday night to meet his teammates for the first time and has since joined training at Middlewood Road.

Owls boss Stuart Gray says he was recommended the centre-back by Wednesday youth coach Neil Thompson and he is delighted to get the deal done.

"Tom is a good age at 23 and has played a lot of senior games,' Gray told the official SWFC website.

"We are getting a fantastic player so I am really pleased the boy has passed his medical and the deal is done.'

Interesting that this fella can also play right back, just as it was interesting to read that Stu still considers midfield as Liam Palmer's best position. Versatile is good, and we already have Sam Hutchinson for some of that, assuming we can keep him fit, but there's nowt like a settled side in my book. So where does Tom Lees fit in? And are we still likely to make Dejan Kelhar an offer? And what about Florian Tardieu? Is he still knocking around somewhere? Or is it all going to come down to who's available on loan come the end of August. Sit tight and buckle up everybody...
