Kelhar considering short-term Owls deal

Kelhar considering short-term Owls deal

Wednesday have offered Slovenian trialist Dejan Kelhar a short-term contract at Hillsborough.

The defender joined up with the Owls during their pre-season training camp in his homeland and he returned to England to feature in Wednesday's friendly matches.

Boss Stuart Gray has been impressed and has offered the former Red Star Belgrade man a short-term contract. Kelhar returned to Slovenia following yesterday's friendly against Barnsley to mull over the deal.

Kelhar has partnered new captain Glenn Loovens and Kamil Zayatte in those matches while the addition of Tom Lees from Leeds United adds more strength to the Owls back line.

Fellow trialist Roy Contout will not be pursued any further, however, with Gray believing the player is not better than the players he already has at his disposal.

Pity we didn't offer Zayatte a short-term deal, huh? I suppose he might come good yet. Kelhar? 6 full caps, 15apps last season for the Serbian champions, maybe he's asking for a decent wedge. Who knows? Loovens & Gooch earned extensions based on performances so the system clearly works. Go for it I say.
