Antonio completes move to Forest

Wednesday winger Michail Antonio has completed his transfer to Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.

The former Reading man has penned a three-year deal at the City Ground for a fee believed to be in excess of 1.5 million but which has not been disclosed by either club.

The Wandsworth-born attacker spent two years at Hillsborough after initially arriving on loan from the Royals but he missed a large chunk of last season through injury.

Antonio told the official Forest website: 'Sheffield Wednesday are a similar-sized club to Forest. They both have great fanbases and at Wednesday the supporters showed great belief in me so I'm hoping to experience the same here.

'I'm really pleased to be here. Nottingham Forest is a massive club, it has great potential to reach the Premier League and, on a personal level, I'm here to better myself as a player and get as far as I can.'

Antonio made 83 appearances in the blue and white stripes, scoring 18 goals.

Owls boss Stuart Gray may now use the transfer fee to bolster his attacking options, but a bid reported to be in for St Johnstone striker Stevie May.

It breaks the mould I suppose. We usually loan out a fans' favourite to a league rival in order to free sufficient wages to draft in a half-fit codger or two. This time we've sold one with the promise of using the cash to plug some 'desperate' holes in our squad. Fine. Two days before the season starts seems like cutting it fine to me, but never mind. So... How much? Ah, that's classified I'm afraid. Or rather - undisclosed. That way the accountants get free licence to weave their magic. The BBC reckon it's 1.5m but that can't be right because Forest completed two items of business today, the other being a striker from Peterbro' who is valued at 5m rising to 8m on appearances. That's right, Peterbro'. This is a 21yr old who didn't make Watford's side but must've set League 1 alight to earn a valuation like that 12months later. Peterbro', eh? Didn't they get a similar figure last summer selling some unheard-of ex-Dagenham player to Palace? What's happening here? Have these people never heard of the loan market!? The Sidibes of this world? The Howards and the Litas and the Bests? Maybe PA ought to have a word with them because they're clearly doing sommat wrong. Meanwhile, Antonio? 1.5M? Nah, someone's having a laugh. Besides, don't Reading take a chunk of that? And did we get a chunk of CO'Gs fee to Brighton? I mean, that'd make sense wouldn't it? Undisclosed, you say? Ah...
