Owls considering move for Marshall

Owls considering move for Marshall

Wednesday are reported to be considering a move for former loan star Ben Marshall.

The wing wizard spent five months on loan at Hillsborough from Stoke City and played a big role in the Owls' promotion from League One, scoring five goals in 22 appearances and having a hand in many more.

Leicester City snapped up the 22-year-old following his successful loan stint at S6 but after a year-and-a-half he signed for Blackburn Rovers, where he became a first-team regular last season before suffering an ankle injury.

Marshall has been linked with a return to Hillsborough this summer and Owls boss Stuart Gray knows the player well from their days together at Northampton Town, where Gray managed and Marshall spent some time on loan.

"I know Ben. He is a good player,' said Gray in the Owls' pre-Brighton press conference. 'He is a talented boy and I am always going to be interested in good players."

The Owls have not made contact with Rovers over the availability of the attacker but he could be on Gray's 'wanted list' before the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.

'...not made contact with Rovers' seems highly significant, but in the same interview Stu expressed his disappointment that word of our interest in Stevie May got out. So there might be some truth in the Ben12/ Ben7 rumour. Then again, if he's been struggling to overcome an ankle injury I'd say it'll be odds on a loan with perhaps an agreement to buy come January. And that's assuming our takeover is wrapped up by then. It's all a big if though...
