Westwood starts in Owls' opener

Keiren Westwood has been preferred to Chris Kirkland in the Owls' goal for the season opener at Brighton today. The team news is in...

The former Sunderland man will make his competitive debut at the Amex Stadium with Kirkland having to make do with a place on the bench.

Tom Lees will also make his debut alongside captain Glenn Loovens at the heart of the Wednesday defence, with fellow new-boy Dejan Kelhar on the bench.

Chris O'Grady will make his Seagulls debut against his former club.

Wednesday: Westwood, Palmer, Lees, Loovens, Mattock, Maguire, Hutchinson, Lee, Coke, Maghoma, Nuhiu. Subs: Kirkland, Semedo, Zayatte, McCabe, Floro, Madine, Kelhar.

Brighton: Stockdale; Bruno, Greer, Hughes, Calderon; Forster-Caskey, Ince, Crofts; LuaLua, Fenelon, O'Grady.
