Sturrock Joins Swindon

League Two club Swindon Town have today announced that former Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has agreed to take over the managerial reigns at the County Ground.

Sturrock will be joined by assisstant Kevin Summerfield and defensive coach John Blackley and will succeed Dennis Wise as Robins boss following his Hillsborough sacking over two weeks ago.

The 50-year-old will be unveiled at a press conference at the County Ground this afternoon and will relieve caretaker boss Ady Williams of his duties.

Sturrock has a excellent reputation in the lower leagues after having taken Plymouth Argyle to promotion from League Two before leading them to the brink of a successive promotion from League One. The former Dundee United legend also, of course, took the Owls to the Championship at the first time of asking via the play-offs.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday wishes King Paul all the best at the County Ground!

I'm a bit twitchy about this move to Swindon, as we seem to have problems holding on to good managers. But it seems very strange why he was sacked if he was so popular at Sheff Wed two weeks into a new contract. Is your board like ours and not telling you much ?
