Gilbert's Winning Return

Long-term Owls absentee Peter Gilbert made his long-awaited return to action as he featured for the first time since March in Wednesday's 5-0 thrashing of Bradford City on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Leciester City and Plymouth Argyle defender has been sidelined since March after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament in the Owls' 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But he made the step-up on his return to full fitness in a strong reserve line-up that included Graham Coughlan. Glenn Whelen, Burton O'Brien and Steve Maclean.

The Owls goals came from Sean McAllister, two from Steve Maclean, Burton O'Brien and academy youngster Rocky Lejak while Chris Adamson also saved a penalty to keep out a Bradford attack which included Owls player David Graham.

Gilbert played the whole of the first half for the Owls at the Bradford and Bingley stadium before being replaced by highly-rated centre-back Mark Beevers in the second period.

All good news. Still don't rate him that much :-)

Lets see if he has not lost his touch when he gets back. Last home game he put the ball in the stand about 20 times when trying to play it down the line, he even climaxed hs performance with a glorious 80y cross field pass from in front of North Stand that ended up halfway up the south stand on the opposite side of the field

He must have got back to his best form immediately to keep David Graham quiet!
