'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager's Musings: Pre-Cardiff

Owls boss Brian Laws takes charge of his Wednesday team for the first time at Hillsborough as league leaders Cardiff City visit S6 - and he can't wait to take to the dugout.

Laws has had mixed feelings from his opening two matches as Owls boss - both away - after picking up an impressive victory at Ipswich Town before falling to defeat with his nine-men at Coventry City last week - and Laws believes the bigger, the better for his first game at Hillsborough.

He told the official SWFC site: 'I'll be very proud. It's taken me a long time to get my first home game under my belt but it's one I'm very excited about.

'It's a massive game, they are the league leaders which is inspiring and I couldn't ask for a bigger one - the bigger they are the better.'

And Laws insists his side are capable of beating Dave Jones' men - insisting his team will take to the field with 12 men on Saturday - the support of the Hillsborough crowd.

'They are well-organised and experienced. It will be a test for us to see how far we've come over the past five weeks. Everyone expects us to get beaten but we might raise a few eyebrows on Saturday.

'I feel very confident into the game - why shouldn't we?,' Laws continued. 'We're at home, in good form and they've had a bit of a sticky patch. They're not invincible - Colchester and QPR have beaten them, so why can't Sheffield Wednesday.

'With the crowd that we'll have behind us, we'll be going out with 12 men, not 11.'
