'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Winning In Styles!

A referee helping the Owls? Surely not! Vital Sheffield Wednesday contributor Mark Hollins reflects on the weekend hammering of Leicester City...

--------------------------------------------

'I never comment on referees and I'm not going to break the habit of a lifetime for that prat' - Ron Atkinson

'The person who wins may have been counted out several times, but didn't hear the referee.'

'Rob Styles in the area for Wednesday… PENALTY!'

'Brunt…Styles….BRUNT…. 2-0!'

'Surely a free kick for Leicester… Styles evades…. WHELAN!!!'

'Tudgay barges the Leicester defence, Styles encourages him to hit it…. 4-1 WEDNESDAY!!!, what a rout!'

Its like all the refereeing wrong doings against us over the past few years have been forgiven, Rob Styles must have been at the Ricoh… If I were a Fox I'd be fuming!

Who cares how we do it, the real point to look at is we ARE doing it.

4-1 away is a cracking result whoever you play, even more so if you've weathered a storm, rode your luck and 'smash and grabbed' a win.

Definitely not our best performance of late… But surely our most profitable!

First double in the bag and we've only had two advent choccies! Brilliant.

I know last time I tried to remind people that improvement is still to be made, it is, but I can't mar this fantastic result.

On last seasons standings we need a mere 4 wins and a draw from 25 games to manage safety… Ha… who's thinking about safety?!?! I'm thinking we need 10 wins and 5 draws for the playoffs ;)

This is the first time in a long time that anyone has even thought without laughing at the possibility of becoming the next Wigan… I think Mr Allen should seriously think about throwing a million or two at a promotion push in Jan. Maybe he won't need to! I think he might, could do with a bit more strength in depth, a midfielder, striker and keeper should do it. Quality ones mind.

There are whispers of an all SHEFFIELD premiership derby… not long since we heard talks of merging the great rivals to get to the promised land… would be great to see a regularly packed away end and an equally busy home patch.

How times change.

We have been allowed a taste of the possibilities lying ahead in early Jan… Man City come to town. Barring some questionable ticket pricing this has been the perfect third round draw. We have a chance to progress, should we maintain form rolling up to it. They'll pack out the away end and we'll probably get a few old faces in the ground. Hopefully it will be a sign of things to come.

I have to say when it comes to scoping future results I'm finding it hard to avoid my cautious personality...

Norwich 2 - 3 Wednesday

Doing well so far ;)

UTO!

That should give Allen the cold sweats, you mentioning money in such a cavalier manner! :)

Will our lot turn up ? Usually at Cup Games we have a no show, even when they were charging £10 a game. If nobody can be arsed to turn up for a tenner, they Mr Allen is right to charge normal prices, as we all know the loyal ones will turn up anyway, so the club will make more than lowering gate prices to hope a few stragglers can drag their backsides from in front of TV
