'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Goals, Goals, Goals...

It's lucky number seven for the Owls as the in-form Marcus Tudgay and Chris Brunt both hit the top scorers charts for the Championship following the crushing victory over Leicester City at the weekend.

Both players have netted seven goals this season and find themselves in the BBC Sport top scorers charts as the season nears its halfway point.

The stats reflect the recent excellent form which has seen Sean McAuley and Brian Laws turn the Owls around from the bottom three to a safe mid-table spot just two points off the play-offs.

Tudgay made a slow start to the season after recovering from a freak pre-season injury which saw him sidelined for the start to the Owls' campaign.

But after netting two in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over QPR - the first game without Paul Sturrock in charge - the former Derby man found his form and is now the form striker in the league with seven goals from nine appearances, with his latest coming with a superb long-range effort in the 4-1 thrashing of the Foxes.

Northern Ireland international Brunt is the only midfielder in the chart with seven goals from the left wing. The youngster also made a slow start to his goalscoring this season with his first coming in the 1-1 draw with Stoke before going on to score the vital winner in the 2-1 win over Barnsley and finishing with two goals at the Walkers Stadium.

Owls fans will be keen to see the duo remain in the charts for the remainder of the season - with the hope that a few more Wednesday players may join them before the season comes to a close.

brunt is a weird one you never knoq what to expect with him but i think he may shock us all this season and bag in over 15, i can defenatly see him scoring at least 10, i have noticed at the recent matches that fans don't get on his back as much, which is good, but i suppose that is down to the manger , i noticed tnat sturrock was alwaya negative about brunt and up to now i have never heard laws say one bad thing about him. i notice that none of them are on the top scorers on skysports. i think it is onlt the top 8 that get on there, which place are they in the scoreing chrats,

Funny how Mr Sturrock blamed Brunt for the defeat against Derby saying he kept drifting inside instead of spreading the play wide, yet as soon as Sturrock leaves and MacCaully and Laws start playing real football, Brunt stays wide, and is looking fantastic.
