Manager's Musings: Post-Norwich

Manager's Musings: Post-Norwich

Wednesday boss Brian Laws insists his Owls' side were well worthy of all three points at Carrow Road - despite lady luck shining on the Owls for the second week running.

Madjid Bougherra's 80th minute opener cannonned off the bar before rebounding off Norwich stopper Lee Camp in to the back of the net before ref Andy Woolmer controversially waved away a late penalty for the hosts after initially pointing to the spot.

Laws told the official SWFC site: 'We had a little bit of luck but sometimes you create your own luck when you work hard. An equaliser would have been hard on us. Overall we were the better side. Mark Crossley didn't have much to do and their keeper was much busier.'

But the gaffer also played down claims of a play-off finish for the Owls after the victory took them to within three points of the top six.

He told BBC Sport: 'My ambition is the same as any player, I want to ply my trade at the highest level. But this is a building process, we have to get into the position where we are a good Championship side and move on from there.

'If we keep improving, as some stage we'll get there, when that will be, I can't tell you.'

And Laws insisted his Wednesday side will fear nobody - not even league leaders Birmingham City who visit Hillsborough next Saturday: 'After three wins on the bounce our belief will start growing. We won't fear Birmingham - we'll take our confidence into that game.'

Glad about the way Laws is going about all the promotion hype. Keeping his feet on the floor and hopefully the players will do the same.
