Owls Fans Flock To Oakwell

Wednesday fans are snapping up tickets for this month's Christmas cracker against Barnsley at Oakwell - with over 7,500 Owls set to flock up the M1 for the clash with our South Yorkshire rivals.

On Monday afternoon the Owls ticket office had announced that just 200 tickets remain for the Oakwell clash out of an allocation of 7,573 - with almost two weeks to go until the South Yorkshire rivals collide on Saturday, December 30 (kick-off 1pm).

And despite the Reds averaging just 10,000 this season depsite achieving promotion last season, it's unlikely Wednesday are to receive any further allocations as Barnsley fans snap up tickets for their biggest match of the campaign.

Despite Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium, caretaker boss Simon Davey has steadied the ship at Oakwell and will be relishing the chance of pitting his wits against the high-flying Owls.

The Reds have a superb record over the Owls at Oakwell with Wednesday's last victory coming in the League Cup in 1987 - but Wednesday's 2-1 victory back at Hillsborough and their rejuvinated form which has lifted them within four points of the play-offs will stand them in good stead against Davey's struggling side.

A bumper Owls following is also set for the trip to Tony Pulis' high-flying Stoke City on Boxing Day. By Friday afternoon the Owls had sold 3,100 tickets - with just 1,300 remaining, and the figure is now likely to be a lot less.
