Wednesday - We're Looking UP!

Vital Sheffield Wednesday contributor Mark Hollins reflects on Birmingham's flattering victory over the Owls and looks towards the January transfer window as a possible means to the Premiership...

-------------------------------------------

Banjo, meet Donkey`s bottom...

'I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm.'

Business like Birmingham steal the show…

Wednesday huffed and puffed but their own house blew down…

Possibly the most flattering score line I`ve seen.

One cannot help feel the frustration of knowing that everyone who sees the score Monday morning will write this off as a battering. Thankfully I was there. I know the truth. I also know the score.

I think Saturday was the first time I couldn`t defend D D D D Deon. He is fast becoming the new Lee Peacock.

I can`t really remember a star performance, other than a star team performance. Saturday was the happiest I could be in the midst of a three goal shambles. Special mention to Bullen, who I`m gaining a new, found respect for, and Magic, both not amazing but typically effective.

So we look to Christmas, only 3 business days away, and wonder where the year went.

It went every which way.

Which way will Brian steer the Wednesday sleigh is yet to be seen but, more now than ever, the festive period holds great importance.

Should Wednesday pop through the City clash with high heads, a place in the fourth round and a championship place which still threatens play off (including a potential 9/10 points), we have every right to start counting our Premiership pennies. If a team sustains for that long its not just form… it`s the norm.

If all else fails we can stay here and know that next year will be the first in far too long we needn`t worry about the trapdoor.

Either way, we`re looking up.

I think January holds whatever is round this corner we are forever turning.

So hears to a fantastic thrashing, and many more performances like it!

UTO!

Prediction? Wednesday 3 - 1 Southampton
