Laws Hoping For Promotion Push

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed he's confident his side can mount a serious promotion push this season - if they keep in touch with the Championship pace-setters over the Christmas period.

Laws has been keen to keep his feet firmly on the ground and play down any talk of promotion to the promised land - but he now insists he has the squad, and the attitude, to achieve a top-six position - if they keep injury-free.

'I've noticed what a good bunch of players they are, what a great attitude they've got,' he told Wednesday World.

'We've got a decent side if we can keep free of injuries. The Championship isn't as good as I thought. I was expecting teams - particularly the big clubs who have spent a lot of money - to be far better than we are. But the fact is we are very close. We've got a good squad together and there's no team I fear at this moment in time.'

Laws has revealed that the expectation levels at the club have to change, and is hopeful of keeping in touch with the top six in the hectic festive period which pits Wednesday in four matches in ten days.

He added: 'If we can get through the Christmas period and still be three or four points away from the play-offs, I fancy ourselves to be really pushing hard. Expectation levels are starting to change. If we can stay in there, and keep the team and the fans together, I think we can give a decent promotion push.'

After your awful start I thought you may have struggled, but Laws appears to have the magic touch.
