Jalal Deal A No-Go

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed on-loan Woking goalkeeper Shwan Jalal has been unsuccessful in winning a full-time deal at Hillsborough.

The former Tottenham Hotspur stopper had arrived at S6 along with Mark Crossley in November on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer - but Laws has revealed he is not quite up to the standard he's looking for at the moment.

'It was good to get the opportunity to have a look at him, but we are looking for a bit more,' Laws told the Sheffield Star.

'I think Shwan will play League football though not quite at Championship level.'

He added: 'Jalal wants to play first-team football, as well. If he doesn't get that, he'll go backwards. My suggestion to him is to maybe get a League One or Two club and get some League games under his belt. He's a lovely lad and our players took to him; we wish him well.'

Wednesday currently have Chris Adamson as back-up to the on-loan Fulham stopper Mark Crossley - who is hoping to extend his deal at Hilllsborough until the end of the season at least after helping the Owls to within four points of the play-off positions.
