Manager's Musings: Post-Stoke
Wednesday boss Brian Laws hailed his teams performance at Stoke City as one of the best since he took the reigns at S6 - after the Owls registered an impressive 2-1 victory over the Potters.
Deon Burton's 80th minute strike gave the Owls all three points in one of their toughest encounters of the current campaign after Mamady Sidibe levelled Steve Maclean's opener to take Wednesday to within four points of the play-off spots.
Laws told the official SWFC site: 'This is a fantastic win. Stoke are a tough, well organised side who hadn't conceded in five games at home. To score twice and play well is a credit to the players.'
'We got back to a solid performance,' he continued, reflecting on Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton at Hillsborough.
'We worked hard and deserved to be in front at half-time. Then we weathered the storm and got back on top. This is probably as good as it has been so far. The players fancy themselves to win every game, and they are gaining confidence with every match.'
The Owls travel up the M1 on Saturday to face a rejuvinated Barnsley side under the guidence of caretaker boss Simon Davey (kick-off 1pm) - for all the latest news in the build-up to the game, check Vital Sheffield Wednesday throughout the week!
