'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager's Musings: Post-Barnsley

Wednesday boss Brain Laws hails a 'comfortable' Owls victory against their South Yorkshire rivals but insists his men must take their away form in to the upcoming crunch Hillsborough matches.

The Owls cruised to a 3-0 victory over Simon Davey's Barnsley on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Wayne Andrews, Chris Brunt and Steve Maclean - and Laws felt the three points were fully deserved.

'It was a well deserved win and it finished comfortably for us in the end,' he told the official SWFC site.

'We had to weather a storm for 15-20 minutes in the first half but otherwise Mark Crossley didn't have too much to do. In the second half we had an excellent tempo and ball control.'

'Wayne Andrews got a great goal to set the tone of the game. Once the second goal went in you could see their heads dropped. Our 8,000 supporters were absolutely outstanding and they're getting belief from the team.'

And with the upcoming clash with Hull City just says away, Laws is hoping his side can take their impressive away form - which has seen them collect back-to-back victories over Stoke City and Barnsley - to Hillsborough to collect more vital points and get their 2007 off to the perfect start.

'We're playing really well away,' he said. 'Now we want to transfer that to our home form.'

Well the atmosphere will be cracking as usual, and with both teams in some kind of form, then who knows what will happen!
